What do the lights on the front of my Nokia router mean?

For Community Fibre customers living in Surrey & Sussex, we supply the Nokia G-2426G-A router. If you’re wondering what your Nokia router lights mean read on. Your router has several LEDs on the front to indicate its status (whether you are online or offline) or any faults. You may have a slightly different Nokia model to the Nokia G-2426G (like the Nokia G-240W), but most Nokia router models share similar light displays, so the descriptions here still apply.

Power — This light lets you know whether the router is turned on and the power supply is working correctly. It should be green during normal use. If the light is off, please check that the power cable is connected and both the mains outlet and power switch on the back of your router are turned on. If this light is red, it means your router has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced — in this case, please get in touch so that we can help get you back online.

Link — This light will show whether the router is receiving an optical signal through the fibre cable coming into your house. This should be green during normal use. If there is a fault with your incoming cable, your fibre optic cable is unplugged or damaged then this light will be off, and your internet will not work.

Auth — This light may be on or off depending on your location, it can usually be ignored.

LAN1-LAN4 — These lights indicate the status of the four yellow Ethernet ports on the back of your router. The lights will be green and may flash to indicate network activity when a device is plugged into a relative port.

TEL1-TEL2 and VOIP - These lights relate to the two grey telephone ports on the back of your router. These will only light up if you subscribe to our Calls service. The VOIP light will be green to indicate it is operational, and the TEL1/TEL2 lights will flash when the line is in use such as receiving or making a call.

WPS — This light is usually off. When the WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) button is pressed and enabled, the light will begin to flash green while waiting connection of a WPS-enabled client device. Once a device has connected, the light will briefly turn solid green and then turn off. If the light shows red, it means that a client has not connected during the expected timeframe. In this case, you can try to connect your device again by repressing the WPS button.

WLAN 2.4 — This light will shine green when the router’s 2.4GHz WiFi functionality is enabled, and the light will flash to indicate when it is in use.

WLAN 5 — This light will shine green when the router’s 5GHz WiFi functionality is enabled, and the light will flash to indicate when it is in use.

USB — This function is not utilised on our routers, so this light can be ignored.

Internet — this light indicates whether your Internet connection is functioning and working in conjunction with the “Link” light mentioned above. If the Internet light is flashing, it means that the router is trying to connect to our network. When the light is solid green, your Internet is online. If the light is off, please restart your router or get in touch so that we can help get you back online.
