Switching – how can I find my account number with my current provider?

We need to check a few details to confirm we can match the account and help you switch from your current provider. You can usually find this information on a recent bill. We will need address, name and potentially the account number.

Your account number with your current provider can be found in your bill, it is usually on the top right of the bill (depending on the provider) under the name of Account Number, Account Ref number, Account reference number.

Some examples of how the account number could look like:

  • Talk Talk:  10 numbers e.g. 0123456789
  • Vodafone: 10 numbers e.g. 0123456789
  • BT: 2 letters + 8 numbers e.g. GB 12345678
  • Sky: 12 numbers e.g. 111111111111
  • Virgin Media/O2: area reference code + 9 numbers e.g. 20123456789 (area reference code: you will find it underneath the account number in the bill.)
