Ping - What is a good ping rate

A good ping rate, which measures (in milliseconds or ms) the time it takes for a data packet to travel from your device to a server and back, is typically:

  • Below 20 ms: Excellent. Ideal for real-time applications like online gaming and video conferencing.
  • 20-50 ms: Very good. Still suitable for most online activities, including gaming and streaming.
  • 50-100 ms: Acceptable. You might notice minor delays, but it’s generally fine for regular browsing and streaming.
  • 100-150 ms: Noticeable delay. This can start affecting real-time applications and gaming.
  • Above 150 ms: Poor. Significant lag is likely, impacting the user experience in gaming, video calls, and other time-sensitive applications.
