Jitter - What can cause it
Essentially, the longer data packets take to arrive, the more jitter can negatively impact video and audio quality.
A jitter can occur due to:
- Network Congestion: High traffic can cause delays and variability in packet transmission times.
- Route Changes: Data packets taking different paths through the network can experience different delays.
- Hardware Issues: Faulty or overloaded networking equipment can cause delays.
- Interference: In wireless networks, interference from other devices can affect packet transmission times.
Buffering: Devices may buffer packets to cope with congestion, creating variability in packet timing.
