How to update your phone's APN settings?

If your mobile data isn’t working, your device may not be using the correct network or Access Point Name (APN) settings.

These settings tell your phone how to connect to the network for internet access. Occasionally, they aren’t set automatically, which can stop mobile data from working.

To get back online, you may need to update your settings to:

APN: gamma

Follow the step-by-step videos and written guides below for iOS and Android devices to check and update your settings.

For Apple / iOS users:

  1. Open the Settings App on your iPhone
  2. Click on Mobile Service or Mobile Data
  3. NOTE - if using multiple SIMs, then you will need to scroll down to the SIM section and select the relevant SIM related to your Community Fibre number
  4. Click on Mobile Data Network
  5. Edit APN: tap the APN - 'three.co.uk' under the Mobile Data APN, keep the MMS details the same
  6. Update 'three.co.uk' to 'gamma' under the Mobile Data APN section
  7. Save changes - tap the back button or home button to save

For Android users:

If you have a Samsung/Google Pixel/Android device, the APN will be selected automatically, even if you have SMS suppression enabled.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Network & Internet (or Connections)
  3. NOTE - if using a dual SIM, then you will need to select the relevant SIM related to your Community Fibre number
  4. Select Mobile Networks then Access Point Names
  5. Tap the '+' or menu button to add a new APN
  6. Enter APN information:
  7. Name - Data Settings
  8. APN - gamma
  9. Save settings - click the 3 dots and then 'save' You might need to turn your device off and then back on again so everything works properly.
