How do I know if my phone is locked?
There are two ways to see if your phone is locked.
A simple way is to take out your mobile providers SIM from your phone and then insert a different SIM card from another mobile provider other than yours, by using the SIM from a friend. If the phone works, it is unlocked and if it doesn’t work it is locked.
The second way is to check in the settings:
- Open Settings
- Tap ‘General’, then ‘About’
- Tap ‘Carrier lock’. If it says ‘No SIM restrictions’, then your phone is unlocked. If it names a network, however, then it’s locked to that one.
Android phones (can vary depending on the phone’s manufacturer)
- Open Settings
- Tap ‘Connections’, ‘Network and internet’ or another similar label
- Tap ‘Mobile network’, or similar
- Tap ‘Choose network’ or ‘Automatically select network’. If your phone shows several available networks, it’s unlocked. If you can only select one, however, then it’s locked to that one.
