Fibre To Your Room: FAQs

Q: Can I move the ONT/router later if I change my mind?

A: This may be possible, but would involve additional work (rerouting fibre, new cable runs) and therefore come at an extra cost.

Q: What if the room I choose chose is too far away?

A: Our engineers will discuss alternatives with you on the day of your appointment. If no viable path exists under 40 metres, you may need to pick a closer room.

Q: Does the 40-metre limit include internal routing (through walls / around corners)?

A: Yes - the full cable path is measured, not just straight‐line distance.

Q: Where can I choose to have my ONT/router placed?

A: You can choose to have it installed in a room of your choice (which can be on ground, first of second floors), as long the fibre cable run is within 40 metres of the entry point. However, we do not cover lofts, basement spaces, garages and outbuildings.

Q: Can I have the ONT/Router installed in my garage or loft room?

A: We can only install your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) in a garage or loft room if the space is fully converted and classed as a habitable area. Additionally, the converted garage must be attached to the main house; installation in detached outbuildings is not covered.

Q: What is the difference between Fibre To Your Room and Premium?

A: Our Premium products give customers whole home coverage as well as priority service. Fibre To Your Room allows customers choice as to where the ONT/router is placed.
